ROAD TRAFFIC

The A316 Trunk Road (Twickenham Road, Richmond Upon Thames) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1987

The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Secretary of State for the Home Department, hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the A316 Trunk Road (Twickenham Road, Richmond Upon Thames) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 2nd February 1987.

2.  In this Order:

“Twickenham Road” means that length of the Sunbury to Chiswick Trunk Road (A316) in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames known as Twickenham Road; and

“central reservation” means that part of Twickenham Road which separates the two carriageways of Twickenham Road for the safety and guidance of vehicles using that road.

3.  Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in Twickenham Road to make a “U” -turn:

(a)through either of the gaps in the central reservation which lie opposite the entrance to the Richmond Swimming Baths or the Athletic Ground in Old Deer Park; and

(b)at the western end of the said central reservation, being a point 125 metres west of the western kerbline of Parkshot;

so as to proceed in the opposite direction to that in which it was proceeding.

4.  Nothing in this order shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
