1. The Essex County Council (Maldon Bypass) (Blackwater Canal Bridge) Scheme 1986 is hereby confirmed without modifications.
2. The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) is set out in the Schedule hereto. Copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, and at the offices of the Chief Executive and Clerk, Essex County Council at County Hall, Chelmsford.
3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.
4. This Instrument may be cited as the Essex County Council (Maldon Bypass) (Blackwater Canal Bridge) Scheme 1986 Confirmation Instrument 1987.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE INSTRUMENTTHE ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (MALDON BYPASS) (BLACKWATER CANAL BRIDGE) SCHEME 1986
The Essex County Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under section 106 of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:–
1 The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation Canal in the Borough of Maldon in the County of Essex the bridge specified in the Schedule to this Scheme as part of the new highway which they are proposing to construct along the line of the disused railway track between the site of the Old Maldon West railway station at Spital Road, Maldon and the former level crossing at Fullbridge (A414) Maldon.
2 This Scheme may be cited as the Essex County Council (Maldon Bypass) (Blackwater Canal Bridge) Scheme 1986.
THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEMEPLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE BLACKWATER CANAL BRIDGE
The Blackwater Canal Bridge is to be located at the site of an old brick arch bridge over the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation 500 metres north-west of the crossing of the River Chelmer at Fullbridge (A414).
The substructure is to be constructed in concrete and clad in brickwork while the deck is to be constructed in steel and concrete and surmounted with an aluminium parapet as shown on drawing Nos B941/SI1 and B941/SI2.
The bridge is to be 14.3 metres wide overall carrying a single 7.3 metres wide carriageway and two hardened verges. There is to be one single span of 22.5 metres across the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. The headway is to be 2.2 metres above normal water level which is more than the 2.134 metres required by the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation Ltd. The width of the canal will be increased from 10 metres to 13 metres.
