The Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Modification of section 112) Regulations 1992

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 156 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Modification of section 112) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 17th November 1992.

Effect of Part VI of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

2.  In section 112(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Consents: Limitations and conditions) the words after “as he may think fit” shall be omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations are made under section 156 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 in order to enable Her Majesty’s Government to give effect to Council Directive 90/220/EEC (OJ No. L117, 8.5.90, p.15) on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms. Their effect is to provide that limitations and condiions on consents granted by the Secretary of State may be imposed for the purpose of securing the health of persons at work.
