The A40 Trunk Road (Old Oak Common Lane And Old Oak Road, Ealing And Hammersmith And Fulham) (Prohibition Of Traffic Movements) Order 1999

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act(2), hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the A40 Trunk Road (Old Oak Common Lane and Old Oak Road, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham) (Prohibition of Traffic Movements) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 21st June 1999.

2.  In this Order:

“the trunk road” means that length of the A40 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Ealing known as Western Avenue and in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham known as Westway;

“Old Oak Common Lane” means the road of that name in the London Borough of Ealing and on the border between that borough and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham;

“Old Oak Road” means the road of that name on the border between the London Boroughs of Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham.

3.  Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle

(a)proceeding in the northbound carriageway of Old Oak Common Lane to make a turn at the junction between Old Oak Common Lane and the trunk road so as to proceed in a southerly direction along Old Oak Road.

(b)proceeding in the southbound carriageway of Old Oak Road to turn right into the eastbound slip road from Old Oak Common Lane, 17 metres south of its junction with the trunk road.

4.  Nothing in article 3 above shall apply to:

(a)any vehicle being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes or

(b)anything done at the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
