The Secretary of State, having received notice that the registrar of companies in England and Wales is satisfied that the Corporation has discharged the duty under section 2(1) of the Commonwealth Development Corporation Act 1999(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 3(3) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Commonwealth Development Corporation Act 1999 (Appointed Day) Order 1999.
2. The day appointed for registration shall be 8th December 1999.

This Order appoints 8th December 1999 as the day for registration pursuant to section 3(3) of the Commonwealth Development Corporation Act 1999. On the appointed day, the registrar of companies in England and Wales comes under a duty, by virtue of section 4 of that Act, to register the Commonwealth Development Corporation’s memorandum and articles of association. On registration, pursuant to section 5 of that Act, the Companies Act 1985 (1985 c. 6) and other legislation relating to companies will apply to the Commonwealth Development Corporation, with the modifications referred to in that section, and the Commonwealth Development Corporation Act 1978 (1978 c. 2) shall cease to have effect, subject to the savings, etc. referred to in that section.
