The Post Office Company (Nomination and Appointed Day) Order 2001

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 62 of the Postal Services Act 2000(1) and, in respect of article 3, after having consulted the Post Office, hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Post Office Company (Nomination and Appointed Day) Order 2001 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

2.  In this Order—

“the Act” means the Postal Services Act 2000.

Nomination of the Post Office company

3.  The company nominated for the purposes of section 62 of the Act is Consignia plc (registered number 4074919).

The day appointed

4.  The day appointed for the purposes of section 62 of the Act is 26th March 2001.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 62 of the Postal Services Act 2000 provides that, on the day appointed by the Secretary of State, all the property, rights and liabilities of the Post Office are to transfer to a company nominated by the Secretary of State for that purpose.

This Order nominates Consignia plc (registered number 4074919) as that company and sets the 26th March 2001 as the appointed day on which the transfer will occur.
