The National Health Service (Dental Charges) Amendment Regulations 2009

The Secretary of State for Health makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 176 and 272(7) of the National Health Service Act 2006(1).

Citation, commencement and application

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Amendment Regulations 2009 and shall come into force on 1st April 2009.

(2) These Regulations apply in relation to England.

Amendment of the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Regulations 2005

2.—(1) The National Health Service (Dental Charges) Regulations 2005(2) are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 4 (calculation of charges)—

(a)in paragraph (1), for £16.20 substitute £16.50;

(b)in paragraph (2), for £44.60 substitute £45.60; and

(c)in paragraph (5), for £16.20 substitute £16.50.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Regulations 2005 (“the Dental Charges Regulations”).

Regulation 2(2) of these Regulations amends regulation 4 of the Dental Charges Regulations to increase the applicable charge payable for courses of treatment. The charge payable for a Band 1 course of treatment increases by 1.9%. The charge payable for a Band 2 course of treatment increases by 2.2%. The charge payable for a Band 3 course of treatment remains at the 2008/2009 level of £198.00.

A full Impact Assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on the cost of business, charities or voluntary bodies.
