24. Where equipment approved by [F1an approved] body under regulation 12 is placed on the [F2United Kingdom] market or supplied for use in the United Kingdom but not yet placed on board a ship, the Secretary of State may carry out sample checks of that equipment to ensure it complies with the applicable international standards.
