1.  The specified roads are—E+W

(a)that length of the northbound carriageway of the M6 beginning at junction 16 at a point which is 210 metres south of the southern bridge deck edge of the southern bridge deck and ending at junction 19 at a point which is 80 metres north-west of the north-western edge of the north-western bridge carrying the gyratory known as Tabley Interchange over the M6;

(b)that length of the southbound carriageway of the M6 beginning at junction 19 at a point which is 745 metres north-west of the north-western edge of the north-western bridge carrying the gyratory known as Tabley Interchange over the M6 and ending at junction 16 at a point which is 80 metres south of the southern bridge deck edge of the southern bridge deck; and

(c)the carriageways of the slip roads referred to in paragraph 4.

2.  Any reference in this Schedule to—E+W

(a)the letter “A” followed by a number is a reference to the road known by that name; and

(b)a junction followed by a number is a reference to the junction of the M6 of that number.

3.  In this Schedule—E+W

[F1“back”, in relation to a nose, means the shortest side of a nose;]

“bridge deck” means those parts of the M6 which span the gyratory known as Barthomley Interchange at junction 16;

“bridge deck edge” means a joint which separates a bridge deck from another part of the M6;

[F1“diverge nose” means a nose between the main carriageway of a motorway and an off-slip road;]

“M6” means the M6 motorway;

[F1“nose” means a paved piece of land approximately triangular in shape which is marked with road markings of a type shown in diagram 1042 in Part 6 of Schedule 9 to the 2016 Regulations and Directions;]

“off-slip road” means a slip road intended for the use of traffic exiting the M6;

“on-slip road” means a slip road intended for the use of traffic entering the M6; and

“slip road” means a road which connects the M6 with another road.

4.  The slip roads to which this paragraph refers are—E+W

(a)at junction 16, the on-slip roads connecting from, and the off-slip roads connecting to, the A500;

(b)between junction 16 and junction 17, the on-slip roads connecting from, and the off-slip roads connecting to, the Sandbach Services motorway services area;

(c)at junction 17, the on-slip roads connecting from, and the off-slip roads connecting to, the A534;

(d)at junction 18, the on-slip roads connecting from, and the off-slip roads connecting to, the A54;

(e)between junction 18 and junction 19, the on-slip roads connecting from, and the off-slip roads connecting to, the Knutsford Services motorway services area; and

[F2(f)at junction 19–

(i)the on-slip roads connecting from the A556;

(ii)that length of the off-slip road connecting from the northbound carriageway to the A556 beginning at the diverge from the northbound carriageway and ending at a point which is 89 metres from the back of the diverge nose; and

(iii)that length of the off-slip road connecting from the southbound carriageway to the A556 beginning at the diverge from the southbound carriageway and ending at a point which is 88 metres from the back of the diverge nose.]
