Standing orders relating to staff

Where a relevant authority has standing orders incorporating the provisions in paragraph 4(1) of Part 1, paragraph 4(1) of Part 2 or paragraph 4 of Part 4 of Schedule 3 (or provisions to the like effect), the power to approve the appointment or dismissal of the head of the authority’s paid service must be exercised by the relevant authority itself and accordingly section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 (arrangements for discharge of functions by local authorities) does not apply to the exercise of that power.
