The Welsh Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 125 and 203(9) and (10) of the National Health Service (Wales) Act 2006(1).

Title and coming into force

1.  The title of these Regulations is the National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and they come into force on 1 April 2024.

Amendment to the National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Wales) Regulations 2006

2.  In regulation 4 of the National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Wales) Regulations 2006(2) (calculation of charges)—

(a)in paragraph (1), for “£14.70” substitute “£20.00”;

(b)in paragraph (2), for “£47.00” substitute “£60.00”;

(c)in paragraph (3), for “£203.00” substitute “£260.00”;

(d)in paragraph (4), for “£203.00” substitute “£260.00”;

(e)in paragraph (5), for “A Band 1 charge, that is to say a charge of £14.70” substitute “A charge of £30.00”.

Revocation

3.  The National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2020(3) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Wales) Regulations 2006 (S.I. 2006/491 (W. 60)) (“the 2006 Regulations”).

Regulation 2 amends regulation 4 of the 2006 Regulations (calculation of charges) by increasing the applicable charge payable for a Band 1, a Band 2, a Band 3 and an urgent course of treatment.

The Welsh Ministers’ Code of Practice on the carrying out of Regulatory Impact Assessments was considered in relation to these Regulations. As a result, a regulatory impact assessment has been prepared as to the likely costs and benefits of complying with these Regulations.
