Section 137 of the Water Act 1989 contains provisions for the establishment, as from the1st September 1989 (“the transfer date”),of regional flood defence committees in place of regional land drainage committees. Subsection (4) of that section makes provisionfor the membership of a regional flood defence committee during a period beginning with the transfer date and ending with a date appointed by, in the case of a regional flood defence committee in England, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheriesand Food.
The Order appoints the 30th June 1990 in relation to the South West Regional Flood Defence Committee.
