ENTERPRISE ZONES

The Sunderland (Hylton Riverside and Southwick) Enterprise Zone (Designation) Order 1990

Whereas by a resolution dated 13th November 1989 the Tyne and Wear Development Corporation adopted the Sunderland No. 1—Hylton Riverside and Southwick Enterprise Zone Scheme:

And whereas an advertisement relating to the scheme and complying with the requirements of paragraphs 3(4)(c) and (7) of Schedule 32 to the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980(1) has, in accordance with paragraph 3(8) of that Schedule, been published in (i) the London Gazette; and (ii) The Journal, The Northern Echo and Sunderland Echo, being newspapers circulating in the area to which the scheme relates:

And whereas the first publication of that adverstisement took place on a date more than six weeks before the making of this Order, namely 15th November 1989:

And whereas no application has been made to the High Court pursuant to paragraph 4 of the said Schedule in respect of the scheme:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 5 of Schedule 32 to the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:–

1.  This Order may be cited as the Sunderland (Hylton Riverside and Southwick) Enterprise Zone (Designation) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 27th April 1990.

2.  In this Order, “the deposited map” means the set of maps, numbered 1 and 2, marked “Map referred to in the Sunderland (Hylton Riverside and Southwick) Enterprise Zone (Designation) Order 1990” prepared in duplicate and signed by an Under Secretary in the Department of the Environment, of which one duplicate has been deposited and is available for inspection at the principal offices of the Tyne and Wear Development Corporation and the other duplicate has been deposited and is available for inspection at the offices of the Secretary of State for the Environment.

3.—(1) The area to which the Sunderland No. 1—Hylton Riverside and Southwick Enterprise Zone Scheme relates and which is shown and marked as such on the deposited map is hereby designated as an enterprise zone.

(2) The boundaries of the said enterprise zone are represented on the deposited map by the outside edge of the black line and either stippled or edged internally with a single stippled band.

4.  Designation under article 3 of this Order shall take effect on 27th April 1990 and the designated area shall remain an enterprise zone for a period of 10 years from that date.

5.  The Tyne and Wear Development Corporation is hereby designated as the enterprise zone authority for the Sunderland No. 1—Hylton Riverside and Southwick Enterprise Zone.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates as an enterprise zone the area of the Sunderland No. 1—Hylton Riverside and Southwick Scheme which was adopted by the Tyne and Wear Development Corporation on 13th November 1989.

The designation is effective for a period of 10 years.

The location and area of the enterprise zone are shown on the plan forming part of this note.
