The River Tay Estuary Limits Order 1999

Coming into force

1st March 1999

The Secretary of State, on application to him by the River Tay District Salmon Fishery Board, having consulted and directed that notice be given in accordance with paragraphs 3 and 4 of Schedule 1 to the Salmon Act 1986(1), as applied by section 7(5) of that Act, and there being no representations or objections made in respect of the application, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7 of that Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the River Tay Estuary Limits Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st March 1999.

Estuary limits

2.  The estuary limits for the River Tay shall be as set out in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULEESTUARY LIMITS OF THE RIVER TAY

The estuary limits of the River Tay shall be a line drawn from

(a)a point at Ordnance Survey grid reference NO 547304 (the Chancellors Stone at Buddon Ness) to

(b)a point at Ordnance survey grid reference NO 548284 (Abertay Sands) to

(c)a point at Ordnance Survey grid reference NO 500282 (Tentsmuir Point).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order prescribes the estuary limits of the River Tay (article 2 and the Schedule).

This Order supersedes the existing estuary limits prescribed by order of the Court of Session dated 8th July 1817 in the case of the Duke of Atholl and Others v the Hon. William Maule of Panmure.
