This Order confers on Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in England those functions which are necessary or expedient to enable the Chief Inspector to approve persons in accordance with criteria determined by or under a scheme made under section 12(5) of the Tax Credits Act 2002 for the approval of persons who are to be regarded as providing child care for the purposes of working tax credit.
Article 3 of the Order provides for the Chief Inspector–
(a)to give, withdraw or suspend approvals and to attach conditions thereto;
(b)to assess the suitability of persons to be home child care providers;
(c)to inform the Secretary of State about the Scheme and related matters;
(d)to provide specified information to specified persons;
(e)to maintain a list of approved home child carers; and
(f)to carry out incidental functions.
This Order applies only in relation to England.
