For the purpose of Article 2 of this Decision, Member States may decide to use the identification mark set out in the Annex to this Decision (‘the alternative identification mark’) instead of the special identification mark set out in Annex II to Directive 2002/99/EC.

Member States that decide to use the alternative identification mark shall inform the Commission thereof in the framework of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health.
