establishing the position to be adopted on behalf of the European Union within the Joint Committee set up under the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia on the facilitation of the issuance of visas, with regard to the adoption of its rules of procedure

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular point (a) of Article 77(2) in conjunction with Article 218(9) thereof,

Having regard to Council Decision 2013/628/EU of 22 October 2013 concerning the conclusion of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia on the facilitation of the issuance of visas1,

Having regard to the proposal from the European Commission,

Whereas:

The Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia on the facilitation of the issuance of visas2 (‘the Agreement’) entered into force on 1 January 2014.

(2)

Article 12 of the Agreement provides that a Joint Committee of experts (‘the Committee’) is to be set up by the Parties.

(3)

Article 12(4) of the Agreement provides that the Committee is to establish its rules of procedure.

(4)

It is therefore appropriate to establish the position to be adopted on behalf of the Union within the Committee, with regard to the adoption of its rules of procedure,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
