of 15 June 1971

establishing Community methods of analysis for the official control of feeding-stuffs

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community;

Having regard to the Council Directive of 20 July 1970 on the introduction of Community methods of sampling and analysis for the official control of feeding-stuffs,(1) and in particular Article 2 thereof;

Whereas that Directive requires that official controls of feeding-stuffs be carried out using Community methods of sampling and analysis for the purpose of checking compliance with requirements arising under the provisions laid down by law, regulation or administrative action concerning the quality and composition of feeding-stuffs;

Whereas all the necessary methods of analysis should be established as soon as possible; whereas the establishment of methods for the determination of hydrocyanic acid, calcium, carbonates, crude ash, ash insoluble in HCl, chlorine from chlorides, mustard oil, lactose, potassium, sodium, sugars, theobromine and urea, and the determination of alkaloids in lupins and the estimation of the urease activity of products derived from soya are a first stage in this process;

Whereas the measures provided for in this Directive are in accordance with the Opinion of the Standing Committee for Feeding-stuffs;

HAS ADOPTED THIS DIRECTIVE:
