This Regulation establishes technical standards and requirements in relation to detergents and surfactants for detergents designed to achieve the free movement of those products throughout the United Kingdom while, at the same time, ensuring a high degree of protection for human health and the environment.

F4For those purposes, this Regulation establishes rules including those concerning the following aspects of placing detergents and surfactants for detergents on the Great Britain market:

• the biodegradability of surfactants in detergents;

• restrictions or bans on surfactants on grounds of biodegradability;

• F1the additional labelling of detergents, including fragrance allergens;

• the information that manufacturers must hold at the disposal of the F2competent authority and medical personnel;

• limitations on the content of phosphates and other phosphorus compounds in consumer laundry detergents and consumer automatic dishwasher detergents.
