Article 20U.K.Product claims

1.In the labelling, making available on the market and advertising of cosmetic products, text, names, trade marks, pictures and figurative or other signs shall not be used to imply that these products have characteristics or functions which they do not have.

[F12.A responsible person must ensure that the wording of any claim in relation to a cosmetic product is in compliance with the common criteria set out in the Annex to Commission Regulation (EU) No 655/2013 of 10th July 2013 laying down common criteria for the justification of claims used in relation to cosmetic products.]

3.The responsible person may refer, on the product packaging or in any document, notice, label, ring or collar accompanying or referring to the cosmetic product, to the fact that no animal tests have been carried out only if the manufacturer and [F2the manufacturer's] suppliers have not carried out or commissioned any animal tests on the finished cosmetic product, or its prototype, or any of the ingredients contained in it, or used any ingredients that have been tested on animals by others for the purpose of developing new cosmetic products.
