1.Manufacturers may apply for a F2... type-approval of vehicles produced in small series within the quantitative annual limits set out in point 2 of Part A of Annex V. Those limits shall apply to the making available on the market, the registration or the entry into service of vehicles of the approved type [F3in Great Britain] in a given year.
2.[F4The approval authority] may decide to exempt any type of vehicle referred to in paragraph 1 from the obligation to comply with one or more of the requirements of this Regulation or with one or more of the requirements laid down in the regulatory acts listed in Annex II, provided that [F5the vehicle type satisfies the relevant alternative requirements specified in Schedule 1 to the Road Vehicles (Approval) Regulations 2020].
3.For the F2... type-approval of vehicles produced in small series, the approval authority shall accept systems, components and separate technical units that are type-approved in accordance with the regulatory acts listed in Annex II.
4.The F2... type-approval certificate for vehicles produced in small series shall be given a unique number in accordance with a F6... numbering system, which shall at least allow for F7... characterising the approval as one granted for a F2... small series.
[F85.The Secretary of State may by regulations lay down the template and numbering system for the type-approval certificate of vehicles produced in small series which must bear the heading “GB small series vehicle type-approval certificate” and must bear the content and nature of the exemptions granted pursuant to paragraph 2 of this Article.]
