Amendment of the Spring Traps Approval (Scotland) Order 2011

2.—(1) The schedule of the Spring Traps Approval (Scotland) Order 2011(1) is amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (5).

(2) In entry 4 (DOC 150) and entry 5 (DOC 200 and DOC 250), in the conditions in Column (2) in each case, for “The tunnel must include an internal baffle arrangement” to the end of the sentence, substitute—

The tunnel must include an internal baffle arrangement that conforms to the type described in the Department of Conservation’s design specifications as set out in the Predator Trap Instructions UK and published on SASA’s website(2) on 10th February 2021.

(3) In entry 9d (Goodnature A24 rat and stoat Trap), in the conditions in Column (2), after “weasels” insert “, edible dormice (Glis glis)”.

(4) After entry 16 (Nooski mouse trap), insert the following entry—

16za. Perdix Spring Trap manufactured by or under the authority of Perdix Wildlife Supplies, Unit 1 Hatton Rock Business Park, Hatton Rock, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 0BX.The trap is to be used only for the purpose of killing or taking stoats, grey squirrels, weasels and rats.
The trap must be set in a natural or artificial tunnel which is suitable for minimising the chances of capturing, killing or injuring non-target species whilst not compromising the killing or taking of target species..

(5) After entry 22a (Tully Trap), insert the following entry—

22b. Tully Trap fitted with baffles for grey squirrels manufactured by or under the authority of KM Pressings Ltd, 37B Copenhagen Road, Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU7 0XQ, UK.The trap is to be used only for the purpose of killing or taking grey squirrels, stoats, weasels and rats.
The trap must be set in a natural or artificial tunnel which is suitable for minimising the chances of capturing, killing or injuring non-target species whilst not compromising the killing or taking of target species.
The trap must be fitted with baffles for grey squirrels supplied by the manufacturer or constructed to the manufacturer’s specifications as set out in the ‘Tully Trap Grey Squirrel Baffle Instructions’ produced by the manufacturer and published on SASA’s website(3) on 10th February 2021. The trap must be positioned in relation to the baffle or baffles so that it conforms with those specifications..
