9 Saving for acts done for scientific, &c., purposes.F5S

[F1(1)]A person shall not be guilty of any contravention of this Part of this Act [F2or of section 31(1)(a) of the M1Control of Pollution Act 1974] in respect of any act if he does the act for some scientific purpose, or for the purpose of protecting, improving or developing stocks of fish and has obtained the previous permission in writing of the Secretary of State, . . . F3

[F4(2)This section does not apply to an act relating to salmon.]
