2.—(1) In section 5A of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) (right of holders of recognised European qualificationsto be registered) after subsection (3) there shall be inserted thefollowing subsection—
“(3A) A person holding a qualification as to training received in theterritory of the former German Democratic Republic but which does notsatisfy the requirements laid down by the Training Directive shall notbe entitled to be registered by virtue of that qualificationunless—
(a)that qualification indicates that such training commenced beforeGerman unification,
(b)that qualification indicates that the holder isentitled to practise as a veterinary surgeon throughout the territory ofGermany to the same extent as the holder of the German State examinationcertificate in veterinary medicine, and
(c)he produces to the registrar a certificate of the competent Germanauthority that he has lawfully practised veterinary surgery in Germanyfor at least three consecutive years during the five years preceding thedate of issue of the certificate.”.
(2) In Schedule 1A to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 (recognisedEuropean qualifications in veterinary surgery) under the sub-heading“Germany”, paragraph 2 (relating to diplomas issued by the competentauthorities in the German Democratic Republic) shall be deleted and thefigure“1” shall be omitted from the beginning of the remaining paragraph.
