2.—(1) The day appointed for the coming into force of section 51 (Class 1 contributions)–
(a)for the purpose only of authorising the making of Regulations is 23rd February 1999; and
(b)for all other purposes is 6th April 1999.
(2) The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions specified in paragraph (3) below is 6th April 1999.
(3) The provisions specified in this paragraph are–
(a)paragraphs 16, 58(1), 59 to 61, 71(b), (c) and (e), 74, 75, 77(2) to (5), 90, 92 to 94, 99(3), 110(1)(b), 126 to 128 and 133 of Schedule 7 and section 86(1) in so far as it relates to those paragraphs;
(b)in Schedule 8 the repeals of the provisions of the Social Security Administration Act 1992(1) specified below and section 86(2) in so far as it relates to them–
(i)section 146;
(ii)in section 147(1), (2) and (3) the words “or 146”; and
(iii)in section 190, in subsection (1)(a) the word “146,”; and
(c)in Schedule 8 the repeals of the provisions specified below and section 86(2) in so far as it relates to them–
(i)the definitions of “initial primary percentage” and “main primary percentage” in section 122(1) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992(2); and
(ii)section 137(2) of the Pensions Act 1995(3).
