Discharge of returning officer’s functions
10. In subsection (1)(a) of section 28 of the 1983 Act(1) (discharge of returning officer’s functions in England and Wales), after “the mayor”, there shall be inserted “or the chairman”.

Section 28(1)(a) was amended by paragraph 68(4) of Schedule 16 to the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994 (c. 19).
