Provisions coming into force on 1st April 2005

2.  The following provisions of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (“the Act”) come into force on 1st April 2005 –

(a)paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 (repeal of the Civil Defence Act 1948(1)), but only in so far as it relates to sections 3, 3A and 3B(2) of that Act in so far as those provisions relate to, or to anything done in, a financial year beginning on or after 1st April 2005;

(b)paragraph 10 of Schedule 2 (change of name of metropolitan county fire and civil defence authorities);

(c)Schedule 3, but only in so far as it repeals sections 3, 3A and 3B of the Civil Defence Act 1948 in so far as those provisions relate to, or to anything done in, a financial year beginning on or after 1st April 2005;

(d)section 32, but only to the extent that it introduces a provision of the Act specified in paragraph (a), (b) or (c).

Section 3 was repealed in part by S.I. 1989/1968, Schedule 10 to the Police Act 1964 (c. 48) and the Stature Law (Repeals) Act 1986 (c. 12). Section 3 was substituted in England and Wales by section 1 of the Civil Defence (Grant) Act 2002 (c. 5). Sections 3A and 3B were inserted by section 1 of the Civil Defence (Grant) Act 2002.
