20. In section 17(5) of the Housing Act 1988(1) (succession to assured tenancy), for the word “treated” to the end substitute “treated as the tenant’s spouse, or if that person is the same sex as the tenant, and falls within subsection (4)(b), as the tenant’s civil partner.”.

1988 c. 50; section 17(5) was amended by the 2004 Act, Schedule 8, paragraph 41(1) and (4) and by the Localism Act 2011 (c. 20), section 161(1) and (5). There are other amendments to section 17 not relevant to this Order.
