The name of a council is the name of the district with the addition of the words “District Council”.

Regulations may provide for the name of a council to be other than that provided in accordance with subsection (1).

Subsection (1) is subject to the provisions of this Act and Part 4 of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972.
