This Order may be cited as the Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983.

Subject to paragraph (3), this Order shall come into operation on such day or days as the Head of the Department may by order appointF1.

Articles 28 to 30 and Article 56(2) and Schedule 2 to the extent that they repeal the M1 Dogs Act (Northern Ireland) 1960 and sections 1 and 4 of the M2 Livestock (Protection from Dogs) Act (Northern Ireland) 1968 shall come into operation on the expiration of the period of 2 months from the day on which the order is made.
