1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Police (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.
(2) This Order shall come into operation on such day or days as the Secretary of State may by order appoint.
(3) An order under paragraph (2)
may make such transitional provisions and savings as appear to the Secretary of State to be necessary or expedient in connection with any provision brought into operation by the order.
2.—(1) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(1) shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
(2) In this Order—
“the principal Act” means the Police Act (Northern Ireland) 1970(2);
“the 1987 Order” means the Police (Northern Ireland) Order 1987(3);
“the 1989 Order” means the Police and Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1989(4).
