CHAPTER IGENERAL

Appeals

Panel for appointment to appeal tribunals7

TheF1Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission shall constitute for Northern Ireland a panel of persons to act as members of appeal tribunals.

Subject to paragraph (3), the panel shall be composed ofF2 persons appointed by the F1Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission.

The panel shall include persons possessing such qualifications as may be prescribed by regulations made with the concurrence of the F3F4Department of JusticeF5; and such concurrence may be given only after consultation with the Lord Chief Justice.

The Lord Chief Justice may nominate any of the following to exercise his functions under paragraph (3)—

a

the holder of one of the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002;

b

a Lord Justice of Appeal (as defined in section 88 of that Act).”

As part of the selection process for the appointment of a medical practitioner as a member of the panel, the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission shall consult the Chief Medical Officer of the Department.

The F7terms and conditions of appointments to the panel shall be determined by theF1Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission with the consent of the Department.
