Salaries (Assembly Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

Coming into operation
The Department of Finance and Personnel, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 5(1) and (2) of the Ombudsman (Northern Ireland) Order 19961 and Article 4(1) and (2) of the Commissioner for Complaints (Northern Ireland) Order 19962 and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Title and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the Salaries (Assembly Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 15th May 1997.

Revocation2.

The Salaries (Assembly Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 19963 is hereby revoked.

Increase in Salaries3.

The annual salaries payable to the Assembly Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Complaints shall be increased as follows—

(a)

from £72,980 to £74,440 from 1st April 1997,

(b)

from £74,440 to £76,629 from 1st December 1997.

This Order provides for increases in the annual salaries payable to the Assembly Ombudsman for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Complaints.

These increases are made with retrospective effect from 1st April 1997 and from 1st December 1997 under Article 5(2) of the Ombudsman (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 and Article 4(2) of the Commissioner for Complaints (Northern Ireland) Order 1996.

Article 2 revokes the Salaries (Assembly Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.
