1. These Regulations may be cited as The Suckler Cow Premium (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 28th February 1997.
2. The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(1) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
3. The Suckler Cow Premium Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993(2) shall be amended by the insertion of the following regulation after regulation 10—
“11. Where any additional payments provided for by Article 1 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 2443/96 providing for additional measures for direct support for producers' incomes or for the beef and veal sector(3) are made to successful applicants, then—
(a)the applicants concerned shall be deemed to have applied for those payments under regulation 3 as if they had applied for payments of premium; and
(b)those payments shall for the purposes of regulations 3A to 10 be regarded as payments of premium.”.
