Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 5(3), (4) and (5) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and in accordance with Article 19C(3)(2) of that Order with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel(3) as regards regulation 2, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2001.

Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996

2.  In the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996(4) for Schedule 4 there shall be substituted—

Revocation

3.  The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000(5) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 by substituting a new Schedule 4. In the new Schedule 4 the following fees have been increased—

(a)the fee for a test, other than an extended test, for a vehicle in category B is increased from £34·00 to £36·00 for a test commencing during normal hours and from £46·00 to £47·00 for a test commencing out of hours;

(b)the fee for a test, other than an extended test, for a vehicle in category F, G, H and K is increased from £34·00 to £36·00 for a test commencing during normal hours;

(c)the fee for a test, other than an extended test, for a vehicle in category B+E, C1, C1+E, D1, D1+E, C, C+E, D and D+E is increased from £49·50 to £52·00 for a test commencing during normal hours and from £74·50 to £78·00 for a test commencing out of hours;

(d)the fee for an extended test during normal hours for a vehicle in category B is increased from £68·00 to £72·00.

The fee for a test, other than an extended test, for vehicles in categories A1, B1 (other than B1 invalid carriages) P and A remains unchanged at £45·00 for a test commencing during normal hours and £57·00 for a test commencing out of hours.

The fee for an extended driving test during normal hours for a vehicle in category A remains unchanged at £90·00.
