The Department of Finance and Personnel, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 1(1) and (2) of The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees, etc.) Act (Northern Ireland) 1955(1) as modified by section 9 of the Marriage Act 1983(2) Article 47(1) and (2) of The Births and Deaths Registration (Northern Ireland) Order 1976(3) and Article 15 of the Financial Provisions (Northern Ireland) Order 1976(4) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This order may be cited as the Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2002.
2. The fee payable under a statutory provision specified in column 1 of the Schedule in respect of the matter specified in relation to it in column 2 shall be the fee specified in relation to it in column 3.
3.—(1) Any fee payable under any provision of the Marriage Act 1983 specified in column 1 of the Schedule in respect of any matter specified in relation to it in column 2 shall be payable by the person who gives notice of intention to marry under section 3(2) of that Act, except that no such fee shall be payable by any person who is in receipt of benefit under section 122(1)(a) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992(5).
(2) Any fee payable by virtue of paragraph (1) shall be payable to the Registrar General.
4. The Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998(6) and The Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002(7) is hereby revoked.

(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order provides for the various fees payable under the Births, Deaths and Marriages enactments relating to:
(a)licences and other preliminary proceedings for marriages;
(b)registration for marriage purposes of meeting houses and other places of worship; and
(c)registration of births, deaths and marriages.
This Order makes provision for the person by whom and to whom fees are payable for services under the Marriage Act 1983 and exempts any person in receipt of income support from payment for those services.
This Order supersedes the Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002 which was incorrectly made.
