The Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002

The Department for Employment and Learning(1), in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 3(1) and (2), of the Education (Student Support) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998(2) and now vested in it(3) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st September 2002.

2.  Regulation 9(2) of the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001(4) shall be amended by substituting “£5,245” for “£5,120”.

3.  These Regulations shall not have effect in relation to an academic year (as defined in regulation 2(6) of the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001) which begins before 1st September 2002.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001.

Regulation 9(2) is amended to increase the maximum amount of grant payable from £5,120 to £5,245. The increase will not apply to an academic year beginning before 1st September 2002.
