These Regulations amend for the second time the Plastic Materials and Articles in Contact with Food Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 (S.R. 1998 No. 264, “the 1998 Regulations”). The Regulations implement –Commission Directive 2001/62/EC amending Directive 90/128/EEC relating to plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (O.J. No. L221, 17.8.2001, p. 18);Commission Directive 2002/16/EC on the use of certain epoxy derivatives in materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (O.J. No. L51, 22.2.2002, p. 27); and(in minor respects) Commission Directive 2002/17/EC amending Directive 90/128/EEC relating to plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (O.J. No. L58, 28.2.2002, p. 19).
