Citation, commencement and interpretation1.

(1)

These Regulations may be cited as the Occupational Pension Schemes (Winding Up Notices and Reports, etc.) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.

In these Regulations—

  • “member”, “deferred member” and “pensioner member” have the meanings given in Article 121(1)4, subject to the provision made by regulations 5(3) and 10(3);
  • “small self-administered scheme” has the meaning given in regulation 2(1) of the Retirement Benefits Schemes (Restriction on Discretion to Approve) (Small Self-administered Schemes) Regulations 19915.

Subject to paragraph (4), the Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 19546 shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.

For the purposes of these Regulations and notwithstanding section 39(2) of the Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954, where a period of time is expressed to begin on, or to be reckoned from, a particular day, that day shall be included in the period.

In these Regulations any reference to a numbered Article is a reference to the Article of the Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 bearing that number.
