Gaming (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003

The Department for Social Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 77(4) and 108(16) of the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985(1) and now vested in it(2) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Gaming (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 28th March 2003.

(2) In this Order “the 1985 Order” means the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985.

Conditions governing gaming for prizes on bingo club premises

2.  In Article 77(1)(c) of the 1985 Order for “£15”(3) there shall be substituted “£25”.

Maximum entitlement to prizes in gaming by means of a gaming machine on licensed premises within the meaning of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996

3.  In Article 108(8) and (9) of the 1985 Order for “£15”(4) there shall be substituted “£25”.

Revocations

4.  The following are hereby revoked–

(a)Article 4(c) of the Gaming (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001(5);

(b)Article 5 of the Gaming (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999(6).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order–

(a)increases the maximum money prize which can be distributed or offered in gaming for prizes on bingo club premises from £15 to £25;

(b)increases the maximum entitlement to prizes in gaming by means of a gaming machine installed on licensed premises (within the meaning of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996) from £15 to £25.
