The Rules of the Supreme Court (Northern Ireland) (Amendment No. 2) 2003

To be laid before Parliament

Coming into operation

We, the Northern Ireland Supreme Court Rules Committee, being the authority having for the time being power under section 55 of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 19781 to make, amend or revoke rules regulating the practice and procedure of the Supreme Court of Judicature in Northern Ireland, hereby, with the concurrence of the Lord Chancellor, exercise those powers as follows:–

Citation and commencement1

These Rules may be cited as the Rules of the Supreme Court (Northern Ireland) (Amendment No. 2) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2003.

Adoption2

Subject to rule 3, the following provisions of the Rules of the Supreme Court (Northern Ireland) 19802 are hereby revoked –

a

Parts I to III and V of Order 84;

b

Appendix F; and

c

Appendix G.

Saving3

The provisions referred to in rule 2 shall continue to apply –

a

with any necessary modifications, to proceedings under the Adoption (Hague Convention) Act (Northern Ireland) 19693; and

b

to proceedings under the Adoption (Northern Ireland) Order 19874 commenced before 1st June 2003.

These Rules revoke (with saving) a number of provisions in the Rules of the Supreme Court (Northern Ireland) 1980 relating to adoption. As of 1st June 2003 provision in relation to adoption proceedings will be contained in the Family Proceedings Rules (Northern Ireland) 1996.
