Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations revoke the Motor Vehicle Testing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 as amended and make provision for the testing of motor vehicles, except goods vehicles and public service vehicles, in Northern Ireland.
The Regulations set out in Schedule 4 are revoked as a consequence of these Regulations (regulation 24).
Any person who acts in contravention of the Regulations shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction, in the case of a vehicle adapted to carry more than 8 passengers, to a fine not exceeding level 4 on the standard scale (currently £2,500), and in any other case, to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (currently £1,000).
