Amendment of the Housing Benefit Regulations

3.  In regulation 72 of the Housing Benefit (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987(1) (time and manner in which claims are to be made) –

(a)in paragraph (4) after sub-paragraph (d)(2) there shall be added the following sub-paragraph –

(e)where the claimant has attained the qualifying age for entitlement to state pension credit under the State Pension Credit Act (Northern Ireland) 2002(3), may be sent or delivered to an office which is nominated by the Department and authorised by the relevant authority for receiving claims for determination by the relevant authority.; and

(b)in paragraph (5) for sub-paragraph (c) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraphs –

(c)in a case where a claim is sent or delivered to an office in accordance with paragraph (4)(e), the date on which the claim is received at that office;

(d)in any other case, the date on which the claim is received at the designated office..
