General Dental Services (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003
Citation, commencement and interpretation1.

These Regulations may be cited as the General Dental Services (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2003.

The principal Regulations shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3)

In regulation 19(1) (Statement of Dental Remuneration), in column (2) of the Table, for “Vocational training allowances” there shall be substituted “Vocational training allowances/General professional training allowances” and for “Maternity payments” there shall be substituted “Maternity, paternity and adoption leave payments”.

In Part II of Schedule 5 (Prior approval treatment), in each of paragraphs 1 and 2, for “£270” there shall be substituted “£280”.

These Regulations further amend the Health and Personal Social Services General Dental Services Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 (“the principal Regulations”) which regulate the terms on which general dental services are provided under the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972.
Regulation 2 (2) amends the Table in regulation 19(1) of the principal Regulations to add General professional training allowances and paternity payments and adoption leave payments to matters in relation to which a determination on dental remuneration may be made.
Regulation 2(3) amends Schedule 5 to the principal Regulations to increase (from £270 to £280) the amount specified as the maximum cost, or likely cost, of care and treatment which a dentist may undertake without seeking the prior approval of the Dental Committee.
