The Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2004

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 87 of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 20021, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2004.

The following provisions of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 shall come into force on 1st September 2004.

The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) above are –

  • Section 9(1) to (3), (7) to (11) and (13) (lay magistrates);

  • Section 85(1) to the extent necessary to bring into force the provision of Schedule 12 (minor and consequential amendments) below; and

  • Paragraph 23 of Schedule 12.
