Coming into operation
The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety1, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 3(1)(b) of the Health and Personal Social Services Act (Northern Ireland) 20012 and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, and having consulted the Northern Ireland Social Care Council3, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Description of social care workers) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2004.

In this Order –
a
“the Act” means the Health and Personal Social Services Act (Northern Ireland) 2001; and
b
“student social care worker” means a person participating in a course approved by the Council under section 10 of the Act for persons wishing to become social workers.
Description of social care workers2
A person who is a student social care worker is hereby specified as a description of social care worker for the purposes of section 3(1)(b) of the Act.
