Persons excepted from meaning of social care worker

2.—(1) A person who is registered for the time being with or (as the case may be) is a member of one or more of the regulatory bodies specified in paragraph (2) is excepted from the meaning of social care worker for the purposes of section 2(2) of the Act.

(2) For the purposes of paragraph (1) the regulatory bodies are—

(a) the General Chiropractic Council(1);

(b) the General Dental Council(2);

(c) the General Medical Council(3);

(d) the General Optical Council(4);

(e) the General Osteopathic Council(5);

(f) the General Teaching Council(6);

(g) the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland(7);

(h) the General Teaching Council for Scotland(8);

(i) the General Teaching Council for Wales(9);

(j) the Health Professions Council(10);

(k) the Nursing and Midwifery Council(11);

(l) the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland(12);

(m) the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain(13); and

(n) any other regulatory body established by Order in Council under section 60 of the Health Act 1999(14).
