The Education (2006 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007

The Department of Education makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(4) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 2006(1).

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education (2006 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007.

Appointed Day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 is 23rd March 2007—

(a)Paragraphs 22 to 39, 45 and 46 of Part II of Schedule 2, and Article 44(1) in so far as it relates to that Part;

(b)In Part III of Schedule 3, the repeals set out in the Schedule, and Article 44(2) in so far as it relates to that Part.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order appoints 23rd March 2007 for the coming into operation of certain minor amendments and repeals which are consequential on the commencement, on 26th January 2007, of Article 21 of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 2006. Article 21 empowers the Boards of Governors of grant-aided schools to enter into arrangements with other grant-aided schools, institutions of further education and any other person or body approved by the Department of Education to secure the provision of secondary education on behalf of the school. The amendments and repeals make clear the responsibilities of Boards of Governors and principals for pupils for whom secondary education is provided at another institution.
