Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the Shrimp Fishing Nets (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 31st January 2008.

In Article 3 (Prohibition on fishing for shrimps without a separator trawl or sorting grid)–
- for paragraph (3)(d) substitute—
“(d)
where sea fish have been caught, the total catch retained on board should comprise of no more than 5% of live weight of common shrimps (Crangon spp), Aesop shrimps (Pandalus montagui) or a combination of the two.”

This Order amends the Shrimp Fishing Nets Order (Northern Ireland) 2005 which regulates the carriage and use of any fishing nets with mesh size between 16 and 31 millimetres, measured in accordance with Commission Regulation (EEC) No 2108/1984 of 23rd July 1984.
Article 3 paragraph (d) is amended to comply with Article 25 paragraph 3 of EC Regulation 850/98 which restricts the quantities of common shrimp and aesop shrimp retained on board a fishing vessel to no more than 5% of the live weight of marine organisms on board.
