The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 61(1), 66(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1).

In accordance with Article 66(1) of that Order the Department of Finance and Personnel(2) has approved regulation 2.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 2nd April 2007.

Amendment of the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985

2.  In the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985(3) for Schedule 7 substitute—

Regulations 4A(1), 5(3), 9(2), (3), (5) and (6), and 12(1)

1. Fee payable with initial application for a vehicle licence (see regulation 5(3))
(a)Buses—
  • Class I

  • Class II

2. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence (see regulation 9(2))

3. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence made within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal (see regulation 9(3))

4. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence made under regulation 9(4) within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal (see regulation 9(5))

Revocation

3.  The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005(4) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985 by increasing some of the fees payable.

For an initial application for a vehicle licence (regulation 5(3)) the following fees have increased—

(a)Buses—

  • Class I, II and III from £83.00 to £85.50;

  • Class IA, from £95.00 to £97.50;

  • Class IIA, from £107.50 to £110.00 and

  • Class IIIA, from £119.50 to £122.00.

(b)Taxi, from £122.00 to £126.50

For a re-application for a vehicle licence (regulation 9(2)) the following fees have increased—

(c)Buses—

  • Class I, II and III from £83.00 to £85.50;

  • Class IA, from £95.00 to £97.50;

  • Class IIA, from £107.50 to £110.00; and

  • Class IIIA, from £119.50 to £122.00.

(d)Taxi, from £122.00 to £126.50.

All other fees remain unchanged.

The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005 are revoked.
